Why was the book's title changed from "The Quran as Revealed" to "The Message"?

The title change was made to more accurately reflect the book's purpose of conveying the teachings of the Quran in an accessible way for English-speaking audiences. It also addresses and dispels misconceptions, ensuring clarity about our work being an educational resource and not a new version of the Quran.

When will the new title "The Message" be implemented, and how does it affect current editions?

The new title "The Message" is effective immediately. All future printings and publications will carry this updated title. Current editions with the old title remain valid as educational resources, but future editions will have the updated title for consistency and clarity.

Is this a new version of the Quran?

No, our books are not new versions of the Quran. They are presentations of English translations of Quranic Surahs. It is important to understand that there can never be a 'new' Quran; there is only one Quran that is sacred and unaltered. Our books serve educational purposes and include explanations of why certain surahs are paired together.

Is the English Translation of the Quran perfect?

No translation can ever be perfect. Translations are efforts to convey the meaning of the Quran to a broader audience. They should be viewed as tools to help in understanding the Quran, rather than as perfect representations of its original Arabic text.

Does 'chronological' in 'The Message' mean verses have been rearranged across different surahs?

No, we have not rearranged or mixed any verses between various surahs in 'The Message'. Each Surah is presented intact, as a direct translation from the original Arabic. The chronological order refers to the sequence in which entire Surahs were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), not the reordering of individual verses within or across different Surahs. Our approach maintains the integrity and structure of each Surah while highlighting the historical context of their revelation.

How does the reward of reading the English translation compare to reading the Arabic Quran?

The Quran translations are not replacements for the original Arabic Quran. They are tools to help readers comprehend the Quranic message in a language they understand. While it is beneficial to seek understanding of the Quranic message, the specific spiritual reward associated with reading each letter of the Quran pertains uniquely to the original Arabic text.

What translation is used?

The translation used for this work was taken from ‘The Noble Qur’an – a New Rendering of its Meaning in English’ by Abdalhaqq and Aisha Bewley. Both are renowned scholars in Islamic studies and have extensive experience in translating Islamic texts. Their proficiency in Arabic and deep understanding of the Quranic message have enabled them to produce a reliable and readable translation of the Noble Qur’an.

Why are there images in the book?

The inclusion of images in our book aims to create a more engaging and thought-provoking experience for the reader. These visuals are designed to heighten the senses and aid in developing a more vivid and visual understanding of the content. By integrating images, we hope to enrich the reading experience and facilitate a deeper reflection on the teachings and messages of the Quran.

Can I use an English translation of the Quran for my daily prayers?

While English translations of the Quran are beneficial for understanding, they do not substitute for the Arabic text in formal prayers. In Islamic tradition, prayers are to be recited in Arabic. The translations can be used for personal study and reflection outside of the formal prayer times.
